About 9:45 who should show up but a very casually dressed Clint Eastwood with country singer Clint Black, whose big concert the couple next to us had just attended in Oakland....Clint is certainly aging but attractive, but we thought he would be taller. Clint Black is short and was just dressed in a ball cap and nylon jacket and jeans...they stood and talked to patrons at the regular bar about 15 feet from us. (On coming in, we had ordered a wine and Chuck had 2 beers, our waitress had brought the bill, and hadn't come back. I decided I'd have another wine since Clint had come, so Chuck took the bill to the bar to pay, and order another beer and wine. (wine $9, beer 8.50) she brought the drinks and a new bill for $16...Chuck went and told her she had cheated herself out of our first bill...she checked and came back and said, it is what it is, so our total bill was $16 + a good tip!!)
At about 10:15 we were getting ready to leave & I asked the piano player if he knew John Denver's hit, "Take Me Home Country roads..." He said he did and started to play it, when over came Clint with Clint Black. Clint E. introduced Clint B. to Grannady and said Clint B. thinks he knows most of the words to this and would like to sing for us. I'm about 4 feet from them both and Clint B. proceeds to sing, asking us all to join in on the chorus...what a great voice he has! After he sings, everybody at the piano starts with the high 5's saying great request Michigan! The couple who was next to us said thy had come in at least 40 times before they ever saw Clint Eastwood actually come in to his place. How fun it was! What a fun ending to our No. CA visit!!!
Hearst Mansion was also a big highlight of our trip!
